Economy of Togo is mainly based on the Food-producing industry which represents 65% of the working force. The rest of the labor force (30%) is cultivating cacao, coffee, cotton and is extracting phosphate.

Togo is actually the 5th biggest worldwide phosphate producer.

Like these few African countries, Sénégal, Mauritius and Namibia, Togo has a free-trade zone on its territory since the late eighties.

Therefore, within that free-trade zone, many companies are florishing in areas such as pharmaceutical , vegetal oil, computers, cosmetics, dental products, transportation and more…

Consequently, the only infrastructure in deep water within the region, the Port of Lomé is a free-trade zone (Port-Franc) which is growing rapidly every year and which represents a real economic asset for Togo and the whole neighboring countries.
